Albert Wayland Shelley (in First World War uniform) and Edith Shelley (nee Cowell) on their wedding day. He was in the army and stationed at the Retreat in Maldon Road. He was born in Pattiswick in 1885, the family were in Rivenhall by 1901. Edith’s family came from Braintree but were in Powershall End in Witham by 1901.
