Amos Shelley with horse and cart and sacks of peas, ready to set out for the railway station. The sacks have the year on them. Probably at Meadowside, Maldon Road. He began as a market gardener in Maldon Road in 1914, and developed into a haulier, and removal service. Note that the caption in ‘Images of Witham’ wrongly dates this at 1939.
