Braintree Road from south, with First World War soldier in middle of road. Cullen’s mill (now 49 Braintree Road) on left. Chalks Road houses in distance. Postmark not legible. Addressed to Miss Edith Bonner, 11 Hospital Rd, Bury St Eds. Message reads ‘Dr E, Many thanks for letter packet. I saw Les on Sunday night. He was in good spirits. Going on alright here & Kate is pleased to have me. Will write as soon as I can. No chance of popping in yet a while ! Love to all K’.
