Chipping Hill forge (18 Chipping Hill). Also (on left behind street light), 20 Chipping Hill and 22 Chipping Hill. Sign pointing to Moat farm on left. Postmark 27 July 1968. Addressed to Mrs W Trafford, Flat 3, Exe Dene, Ferry Road, Topshaw, Exeter, Devon. Message reads ‘Witham Esses. The house where we are staying lies just behind the old working forge. We have a lovely garden, in which we have been able to sit about twice, as we seem to be in a “grey cloud” area at present. Spent the day with Michael & family on Thursday, while David & his family came here on Monday evening – The crops flourish – spinach, beans, strawberries, grain, in enormous fields running right down to the road verges ! We send love, Doris’.
