Church bell on fork lift truck, unknown location

Photographer: Wimpy Public Relations man, Taken: May or June 1975, Source: Ager, Gordon, photographer. 106 Highfields Road, Witham. CM8 2HH, Ref: M2358

One of the bells of the parish church suspended from a fork lift truck on Chipping Hill Green. The men are from Wimpy’s, who lent the equipment. Probably the same bell as in M2356, i.e. the 7th bell; some of inscription is visible, possibly reading ‘me’. The bells were being lowered from the tower and taken away for restoration by Taylor’s bell foundry at Loughborough. They were brought back in late 1976.
