‘Jubilee Oak, Collingwood Road, Witham’. Looking down Collingwood Road from the north. The Jubilee Oak is the tree with the seat round it; it was planted in 1887 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Behind the tree is 55 Collingwood Road, home of photographer Fred Haywood. Other houses are visible below 55. The roadside trees there are not very well grown, because Collingwood Road was only made in 1869

Postmark 9 August 1915. Addressed to ‘Miss E Gilleland, Folktoy Manor, Gantry, Nr Scarborough’. Message reads ‘E.D.G. Just received letter, will let you know about Burton in a day or so. Doubt it will not be before the 17th. Glad you are both well. F.L. Jim’.
