Dragon in Carnival procession in Braintree Road

Part of Carnival procession at bottom of Braintree Road, approaching the Collingwood Road railway bridge. In background, left to right, tree in Albert car park, ‘Thompson’s yard’ with coal, and sign for Playle of Maldon (an electrician who had an office in the yard), and , 1A Braintree Road (left of Playle sign), brick bus shelter (with door opening on left, later a kiosk), 1-4 Albert Road. The dragon was manned by ‘half a dozen members of Witham Round Table’.

A relative of theirs from the Midlands (perhaps a brother) asked David, who was driving him in a taxi, to dispose of them about the 1980s, perhaps when the sisters moved to a home or when one died.
