Finishing processes: drying ovens’. Photo (15) from a series illustrating the making of a window. From page 19 of catalogue. The caption for all the four finishing photos says ‘Finishing processes. The protective finish applied to steel windows has always been of the greatest importance. A great deal of research has been undertaken within the metal window industry on this subject, and since the war, the industry as a whole has adopted the practice of zinc-coating metal windows by optional methods of spraying, sherardizing, cold galvanizing, and hot galvanising. We have adopted the method of hot-dip galvanizing, and have installed plants for this purpose at most of our factories. Here we show a few views of the plant recently installed at Braintree, which we believe is the first fully automatic window galvanizing plant in the world.’ See link for notes on the catalogue.
