Fire brigade and new motorised fire engine, with date 1930 on it. Probably at first demonstration when new The men are, at the front left to right, George Shelley the elder (blacksmith, chief of fire brigade), Richard (Dick) Ashby (garage proprietor), Frank Ager (in driver’s seat, worked at Ashby’s garage), Alf Shelley (decorator, lived in Cross Road), Len Barber (to right of back wheel, worked at Ashby’s garage, father of Bernard and Kathleen, lived in Bridge Street), Willie Algar (of Guithavon Road). Two in front of ladder, left to right, George Shelley junior (blacksmith, son of George senior), Fred Gaymer (carpenter etc). Three on top, left to right, Wally / Willy Woodbine, Percy Shelley, Ernie Nicholls senior.
