Back row, extreme left, is Septimus Albert Champ (manager, who had been landlord of the Crotchet from 1913 to 1920; he was born 1867 and died in 1953). Back row centre, George Hayes (of Chalks Road). Back row, second from right, Horace Brooks (later of Faulkbourne Road). Front row, second from left, ‘Borley’ Thorogood. Front row centre, with cup, Albert (Bert) Philip Champ (born 1896, died 1973). Front row far right, Percy Smith who married Miriam Mead. The mascot of the team was Dorothy Champ, Bert’s small daughter, later Mrs Smart of 1 Cressing Road. Percy was named by Rose Burch, the rest by John Champ, grandson of Septimus, cousin of Dorothy.
