Freemasons’ group, Peverel Lodge No.7743. Back row, fourth from right, Mr Robson the dentist of Witham. Middle row, at left end, Mr Barron[?] of Braintree Road (or Sam Hawkes, of Star engineers in Navigation Road, Chelmsford, suggested by Betty Vale), fourth from left, S L Richmond. Front row, second from left is George Thompson, coal merchant, of Witham (he was in the Witham, Hatfield Peverel and Tollesbury lodges), fourth from right, man who ran Charrington’s coal business at Witham, lived in Kelvedon.
