Group at Red Cross Hospital at end of First World War

Photographer: Fred Hayward, Taken: Nov.1918, Source: Drake, Martyn, Ref: M1459

Group at Bridge Hospital at end of First World War, of wounded soldiers and VAD nurses. Blackboard says ‘END OF GREAT / WAR / 1914-1918 – WITHAM’. The lady in the dark hat near the back is probably Miss Charlotte Pattisson, the Commandant. The tall man behind and to left of her is Tom Poulter of Witham who managed to get himself sent to the Witham hospital as a patient. The lady with the white veil near the front is probably the matron Mrs Frances Dunn (nee Bower) who married a patient in 1917 (see photo 102). Didn’t copy the back.
