Group of four in front of 51 Guithavon Street, to which the Croxalls moved c 1931 (identified from air photos, electoral registers etc). They added the bay windows etc (see M2174 for the house before that happened). Left to right on chairs, Frances Croxall, James Croxall her husband. Standing, probably Lucy Croxall on left, possibly Gladys on the right. Probably same occasion as M2167. Was in small snapshot album which has on the back ‘Butcher’s Studios, Witham. Same Day Service. Developing, Printing, Enlarging’ (George Butcher came mid-1920s).

Source | Webb, David. 87 Station Road, Manningtree, Essex. CO11 1ED The photos formerly belonged to Lucy Croxall and her sisters. A relative of theirs from the Midlands (perhaps a brother) asked David, who was driving him in a taxi, to dispose of them about the 1980s, perhaps when the sisters moved to a home or when one died. |
