Group of railway track workers. Back left (in hat, not cap, to left of man in bowler hat in front of telegraph pole) is Jim Keeble, a ganger. He came to Witham with others to replace railwaymen who were sacked following the crash of the Cromer express in 1905. The postage rate printed on the back is ‘a half penny stamp for inland, one penny foreign, hence it was before the rate rose to 1d. In 1918.
