Hurrell and Beardwell garage, corner of Newland Street and Avenue Road (which goes off to the right). One of the art deco vases is still there (in 2004). Left to right, Glover’s garage (extreme left, white), British Legion Hall (curved roof, behind the Shell signs, opened 1957), low brick building (perhaps Government offices), former Rowley’s Hall (gable, low part in front, with chimney).
