Jim Whitton with the engine that he hired out to farmers etc. He lived at 3 Olivers Cottages in Maldon Road when the Shelleys were there, and kept his machines in the field opposite. His children were Eva, and Stan, who was killed working with Jim, having been bought out of the army. James (Jim?) is in the electoral register for 1930 with his wife Martha, and is in the directory for 1933 (but not in any others) as a carter.
