Maldon Road from the north

Maldon Road looking south. Left hand side of road, left to right, railings of house just behind White Hart (not there now), houses about 7-11 Maldon Road (now site of builders’ yard), 21-23 Maldon Road (behind right-hand lady holding child), 25 Maldon Road, 27 Maldon Road (white), trees and wall of The Retreat (29 Maldon Road), 31 Maldon Road (hardly visible, set back), the Bell beerhouse (37-39 Maldon Road, closed c.1912), and at far end jutting out, probably Nelson House. On right, left to right, cottages north of entrance to Spread Eagle yard, then Brewster’s saddlers shop, probably with old Mr Brewster in doorway and son in road, then North’s hairdresser and barber (4 Maldon Road). Postmark 9 August 1905.
