Old Photos of Witham

Newland Street during the Essex Agricultural Show

Taken: 1910, Ref: M3093

Newland Street during the Essex Agricultural Show. The show itself took place in the “Avenue Fields”, between Collingwood Road and Avenue Road. But this picture shows that the hustle and bustle was everywhere. The Show was held in a different place every year. Witham had hosted a one-day show in 1863, and we were to have another regular one in 1929.
