The 1929 Carnival procession coming out of Guithavon Street into Newland Street. Includes band, and car VW 5250. (Armstrong Siddeley with touring body, registered on 13 June 1928 to Henry Lilley Evitt of the Lound, Maldon Road (ERO C/DF 11/32). This was probably Captain Evitt, chairman of the Carnival). Was Witham’s first Carnival, to raise money for local hospitals. Includes (left to right), 70 Newland Street, 68 Newland Street (White, drapers and milliners, also agents for Colchester Steam Laundry). Includes spectators.
