Old Photos of Witham

Part of 102-116 Newland Street, old houses, with waggon and people

Taken: 3 July 1914, Ref: M742

From the survey of 1914 by the Royal Commission on Historic Monuments.

Part of 102-116 Newland Street, old houses, with waggon and people. One of signs includes ‘Cyclists rest’ and ‘Good beds’.

The original RCHM Record Card for these buildings from 1914, contains rather more about their structure and history. They were Witham Monument 22. I think the cards may now be held by Historic England in Swindon

Every effort has been made to contact the owners of the photos or their relatives, to obtain their permission to use their pictures. But I have not always managed to find them, for which I apologise.
