Addressed to Miss Redman, c/o Mrs Tyler, Lingfield, Hainault, Chadwell Heath, Essex [1906 electoral register has Arthur Tyler at this address, in Chadwell Heath ward of Dagenham. Miss R will be Alice E Redman, the Miss Pattissons’ ladies’ maid in Witham in the 1901 census. See also M2060-M2061 and M2063-M2066. Message is written as from ‘Billy’, probably the Miss Pattissons’ cat (see M2061), implying that the recipient, Miss Redman, has recently left after a visit. It reads ‘My heart is broken, I have been hunting for you all the morning, I slept in aunties room last night & went out at 2.30. I was not really certain that I wanted to go out. I had a good supper last night but did not want breakfast this morning. Billy’.
