Polyanthus at Cullen’s seed trial grounds

Photographer: Ted Dersley, Taken: 1962, Source: Angela Dersley, Ref: M3136

Cullen’s seed trial grounds were in Cut Throat Lane.

Angela Dersley (nee Williams) worked here in the late fifties and early sixties, as did her future husband Ted, who took this photo. Angela described the photo as follows.

“Hi Janet, this picture was taken in 1962. The field beside Cut Throat Lane. Polyanthus growing for seeds. The houses in the background are Homefield Road and Manor Road. Part of their back gardens were taken to make Cypress Road.” The Cross Road Water Tower is on the extreme right.
