Revd Francis Galpin with a musical instrument called a ‘trumpet marine’

Taken: 1900 approx to 1910, Source: From the book 'Old English Instruments of Music' by Francis W Galpin.

Scanned from my copy of the book before I gave it to the ERO in March 2006.

I also scanned the book itself and kept one copy and filed the other with files of book extracts about Witham, which I gave to Witham library, Ref: M2924

Revd Francis Galpin with a musical instrument called a ‘trumpet marine’ (with a church in the background). The photo is facing page 98 in the book ‘Old English Instruments of Music’ by Revd Galpin, first published in 1910, second edition in 1911. He was vicar at Witham from 1915 to 1921. This photo would have been taken at his previous parish, Hatfield Broadoak, where he was the incumbent from 1891 to 1915.
