Taken: Early 1950s, Source: John Newman, 35 The Avenue, Witham,

Steam trains in the station. Sign saying ‘Witham. Change for Braintree & Maldon’. On the left is a train from Colchester, with the loco crew getting off, ready to man a freight train. It is probably the 10.10 a.m. from Norwich, 12.28 p.m. at Witham.

On the right is an F5 loco number 67217 in the Maldon line. To the left of the sign is a J15 in the yard.
