The loading bay’. Photo (23) from a series illustrating the making of a window. From page 23 of catalogue. The caption says ‘The loading bay’. The general caption says ‘A good deal of care is taken to see that windows arrive at their destination undamaged. Careful handling is essential, and generally entails the use of cranes and slings. If at the destination these facilities are not available, crates or bundles must not be tipped out from the truck, but must be first undone and the windows lifted out separately’. John Thurgoood, who worked there, says this picture was taken at the Witham works. See link for notes on the catalogue.
