The river. From middle. Location not clear. One of five from ‘Owen’, one to Staff-Sgt. F E Cole in Saffron Walden (Dad) (M1460) and three to Mrs F E Cole, Lynn Road, Downham Market, Norfolk (M1461-1463, M2898). The message on this one is from ‘Witham House, Friday 17.1.19’, and reads ‘Witham House, Friday 17.1.19. Very many thanks for your letter with Miss Tilly’s enclosed and the cuttings, also for sending on the letter received today. I hope you received my letter this morning, and that the stamp had not come off, for it was not very firmly on. I am so sorry the chocolate has not arrived. In our signalling tests this week I got 395 out of 400, but I was not first. I hope you enjoyed Winnie’s pork cheese. I had letters from Audrey Pratt and Collins yesterday, and the one Joyce sent on was from Peterson. Hope Auntie is well. Best love from Owen’.
