Old Photos of Witham

The Woolpack public house with the Hook family outside

Taken: 1881 to 1883, Ref: M1334

The Woolpack (7 Church Street) with the Thomas Hook (innkeeper and baker), his wife Betsy and the family outside, with a horse and cart. They were in the 1882 directory but not the 1878 or 1886. The baby will probably be Arthur Octavius who was born 16 February 1881 (Witham baptism register). The next oldest was Ann who was 7 in April 1881 and born in Kent (census returns, RG 11/1809, f.61, p.14, schedule 87).
