Portrait of unknown lady. On back is printed emblem for ‘Deacon & Davies, Photographers, Witham, Essex, Copies can be had at any time, pictures copied’. Handwritten above it says ‘S T Davies late’. In directories, Deacon and Davies, photographers appear in 1866 and 1870. Samuel Thomas Davies is ‘librarian to the Literary Institution’ in 1862, hon sec et al. of ditto in 1870-90. He is ‘photographic artist and accountant’ in 1874-82 and thereafter just accountant.
