War memorial, Newland Street, with garage (Essex Service Centre), later Grove garage, behind, and part of 1 The Avenue. Information on stamp (vermilion 4d. stamp) from John Newman, only used Jan 1969 to March 1971). Addressed to Mrs J Grimston, 23 Lasswade Road, Edinburgh. Message reads ‘We have enjoyed our holiday here & seeing our family each day. Last week the weather was glorious – very warm and sunny. Its been cooler this week & weve had a few showers, but we havent been kept indoors. Thanks for ppc from Canada. Will look forward to hearing about it one of these days. We go to Wheathampstead from here for a few days before returning home. Love, Andrew & Betty’.
