Whitehall (18 Newland Street) with handwritten names of the rooms etc. in French. Written at the top is ‘Witham ie 16 octobre 1907’.

At the side is ‘1. Ma chambre’ [my room; centre window, top floor]. 2. La salle a manger [the dining room; ground floor, right of entrance]. 3. Le refectoire pour les boys [the refectory for the boys; ground floor protruding extension on the right]. 
White Hall C’est a dire le vestibule blanc [White hall, that is to say the white vestibule/hall]’ 

Postmark 17 October 1907. Addressed to ‘Madam et Monsieur Dumas, Proprietaire au Marjollet[?], Roanne, Loire, France’.

[Added at the top:-] ‘Mon guide du touriste anglais celui que nous avions me fait bien souite[?] si vous pouviez me l’envoyee par la poste vous me feriez[?] beaucoup plaiser’. ‘My English tourist guide …if you could send it to me by the post you would give me much pleasure’

The message reads ‘Chers Parents J’ai recus vos charmantes cartes de la Croix du Sud et d’ailleurs. J’ai ete heureux de voir que vous avez fait bon voyage. Ce qui m’interesse est de savoir si le Papa a faire bonne chasse quel temps a Beca. Avez vous recu ma carte que je vous y avoire adressee. Ici le froid nous arrive sans pour cela chasse ces sales brouillards la pluie quel vilain temps jaindis[?] depuis que je suis sue lesse – je n’ai eu un aussi mauvais temps. Ou sont les belles journees ensoleillees de France. Je suis en parfaite sante et je fais le brouillondane[?] longue lettre que je vous [???] dimanche. Je vous embrasse tous Joan.
Whitehall became a boys’ boarding school in 1907/1908, hence the refectory for the boys named above.
