Witham Choral Society carol service in Public Hall, conducted by Tom Langley. Information collected from the choir by Alan Purdy. Orchestra was ‘The Grove Players’, organised by Roy Bignell (extreme left with hand on chin). Middle woodwind player with glasses is David Heathcote. Bass player was called Jim, who played and smoked a pipe at the same time. Men in the choir include: front row, Tony Kent (specs and beard), Dick Butcher, Alan Purdy (dark beard and moustache), Michael Bowmer, ???. Second row, Eddie Ainsley, Oliver Dickson. Further back, Mike Ramsey, Mike Morgan, Ian Valentine, Ted Ellis. Lady sopranos on left include, front row left to right, Carmel Purdy, Jean Ashby, Linda Searles, Dee Cooper, others, Ruth Kent, Pat Langley. Lady altos on right include Janet Cole, Wendy Hickey, Dr Jean Boyd, Mrs Eva Jeremiah (founder of the society), Mrs Gimson, Enid Hall.
