‘Pastoral Play, Witham, 4,9,20’. Photo no.11. Fete and play organised by Witham branch of ‘Comrades of the Great War’. Reported in the Essex Weekly News, 10 September 1920. Margaret Mens as a tulip front left. Annie Stock (later Mrs Hollick) is second from right of the five taller girls at the back. Miss Mens thought that the play was put on by Mrs Agnes Peecock (not shown) to occupy the children in the holidays, but this memory may refer to another event as Mrs Peecock is not mentioned in the credits in the newspaper.
