Patriotic play at the Grove, ‘The Birth of the Union Jack’ (no.2). Miss Cecily Pelly as Britannia, and her courtiers, on the throne. Includes, back row, Ada Wass (fourth from left, with large white collar; she was maid to James Croxall, manager of the gas works), Eva Eldred (sixth from left, pale dress and hat), Mrs Mondy (third from right, laced bodice, smiling). Front, Bertha Cutts (third from left, no hat, holding top of corn), Cecily Pelly (Britannia, with trident), Maggie Kentfield, (on right, floppy white hat, one hand on knee). Names mostly from Lucy Croxall.
