Came to Witham c 1929-30. At first for four years, before married, in lodgings with Miss Camp in Easton Road next to Slythe’s monumental masons.

Married
1934. Wife from Hemsby, Norfolk. I wrote down ‘Annie’ in my notes, though the 1938 electoral register at 65 Bridge Street gives Herbert Henry King and Esther Maud King.

Work
Apprentice in gas works, probably at Gorleston, Norfolk.
To Witham gas works c 1929. The works probably closed early 1960s
Retired in 1974.

Died
About 1990.

Relatives
Met at two separate booksignings in 1999: daughter Mrs Brenda Hird, 3 Edinburgh Close, and grandson Richard Hird of 26 Colne Chase
