Born 1908

Parents Frederick Samuel Cook from Witham and Liza (nee Harris) from Terling. Father coalman for Co-op, platelayer on railway, at Baird’s, maltsters, and finished on farm for Wells. Grandfather Cook was married twice. First marriage had four sons and daughters. Then with second wife had Fred’s father, a sister, and a boy who died.

Schools Chipping Hill Infants then National School.

Lived ‘Charity Row’, 22-40 Church Street, when a boy, then Silver End when married (c 1934) then Floreat Chalks Road when it was built c 1938.

Worked 1922-1973 at Crittall’s, 51 years. Started as office boy, did a lot of time and motion study, then was Assistant Works Manager for last eleven years.

Children
Keith and Gill (latter born 1936).

Died 1992 aged 84.
