William Marsh and Emma, nee Young. Emma died c 1905 at age of 38. She’d had six children altogether. They were young when Emma died, William got someone in to help and an aunt in Witham took the youngest, aged two.

When young
c. 1895 to Silvertown
First marriage before WW1 but husband killed in War.
Then to various aunts etc to live, sometimes in Witham
1921
Married second husband, Amos Arthur Shelley, and came to Witham to live in the smallholding in Maldon Road, south of river.
Late 1930s
Took fruit and vegetable shop at 51 Newland Street (lock-up)
After WW2
Other members of family took the shop for a while and then Evelyn and her husband ran a shop at the smallholding for a while.
