Benjamin was one of three signalmen awarded certificates in 1905 after the Cromer Express crash, for stopping another train coming. See JG’s photos P69/23 to P69/25 and P71/3 to P71/14

Edgar’s jobs and residence
Born in Ipswich (father and mother had moved there from Colchester)
Guithavon Road when first came to Witham.
Brought up in Braintree Raod.
1926 approx, set up own business as wireless doctor, mending radios etc. at 23 Albert Road. Also did public address work with amplifier on van adapted (see photos M306 and M307]
1947 moved to 58 Maldon Road.
1952 to Chelmsford Co-op doing electrical work.

    1. Wasn’t he a lovely chap. And so clever. I always think that in modern times he would have been a Professor. I especially like his story about having to show his teacher how to use a slide rule.
